Biography

German 400 metres hurdler Thomas Goller was eliminated in the semi-finals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He started his sporting career as a swimmer but was motivated to move to track & field by his father Stefan, who was a pole vaulter. Thomas was German national champion from 1998-2000, and again in 2007 and 2009, when he also won the 4x400 metres indoor relay title.

Goller was known for wearing sunglasses in every competition. He was temporarily dating Sina Schielke and had a daughter with her. In 2010, he retired from the sport after he was convicted of doping with anabolic steroids and banned for two years.
