Italian basketball guard player Michele Mian started in the youth team of Aquileia, before joining Gorizia. He made his début with them in A2 at the age of 21, and reached the Italian Top League in 1998.
After one season at Pesaro (1999-00) and six at Udine (2000-06), Mian achieved a historic promotion to Serie A1 with Rieti in 2006-07. The kingpin of Italy’s under-22 runner-up squad at the 1994 European Championships, Mian débuted in the senior national team three years later. In the Azzurra jersey he played over 150 games, and at European Championships won a gold medal (Paris 1999) and a bronze (Stockholm 2003). He also won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics with the team coached by Carlo Recalcati.
