Doris Auer was Austrian champion in pole vault (1996-97, 1999-2000, 2005, and 2007) and heptathlon (1992). At the 2000 Sydney Olympics she came ninth in the pole vault. At the 1998 European Championships Auer failed to reach the final, and at the 2001 World Championships placed 11th. Auer held a university degree in sports sciences and history and later worked as a high school teacher in Wien (Vienna).
