Biography

Bertel Backman’s first national achievement was the win of the 1927 Junior All-round Championships. He couldn’t repeat this feat in his senior races but was second (1929) and third (1928) at the Finnish All-round Championships. At World Championships he placed ninth in 1927 and 1929. His last appearance at National championships was in 1931.

Personal Bests: 500 – 44.4 (1928); 1500 – 2:22.8 (1928); 5000 – 8:56.2 (1928); 10000 – 18:09.8 (1928).
