Biography

Lennie Baker was a member of the Great Britain ice hockey team that finished fifth at the 1948 St. Moritz Olympics. He played in all eight of Britain’s games, and scored five goals. Baker played his club hockey for the Brighton Tigers, joining them in the 1946-47 season. He spent six seasons with them, and in 323 appearances, scored 153 goals. He was a member of two National League Championship winning teams in 1946-47 and 1947-48. He ended his career in Scotland, firstly with Falkirk Lions and then with Edinburgh Capitals. Baker came close to a very serious injury while playing for Brighton when, chasing an opponent, he tripped and the heel of his opponents skate embedded into Baker’s face, missing his eye by approximately one inch (2.54 cm).
