Biography

Dennis Blundell was appointed captain of the Birmingham Mohawks Ice Racing Club in 1937 when aged just 16. He remained skipper until 1944 when he entered military service. After World War II, Blundell became coach to the Mohawks and in 1947 won the British Quarter-mile Championship at Richmond, having previously won five club championships between 1939-42 at quarter-, half- and one-mile. He was also an England international, although his only major international competition was the 1948 Olympics.

Personal Bests: 500 – 46.5 (1948); 1500 – 2:29.2 (1948); 5000 – 9:20.2 (1948); 10000 – 19:50.2 (1948).
