Biography

Together with Grażyna Kostrzewińska, Adam Brodecki competed in four World Championships (best placing 10th in 1971), six European Championships (7th in 1972) and one Olympic Games (11th in 1972). In Polish Championships, the couple won two titles (1971, 1972) and five second places (1968-70, 1974-75). Brodecki also finished second in the 1965 Polish Championships, with Halina Pawlina. After completing his medical studies, he retired from competitive skating in 1975. He moved to Kielce where he worked as a pediatrician for the rest of his life. In 1989, in the first free elections in Poland since the War, Brodecki was elected a member of parliament for PZPR, Poland’s communist party.
