Walter Buchberger was a Czechoslovak Nordic combined skier. Buchberger competed in the Nordic combined at the 1928 Sankt Moritz Olympics where he finished in 18th place. In 1924 Vinzenz Buchberger, not the same athlete, finished seventh in the Nordic combined. For many years Vinzenz and Walter were considered to be the same athlete but research by Norwegian sports researcher Rolv Olsen has shown that they were different athletes who had, in fact, actually competed together in the same event(s) previously. We do not know if the two are related, although it is likely that they were.
