Biography

Andrea Clemente was an Italian bobsledder who was in the Italian Air Force when he competed at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics. In January 1970 he was riding in the second round of the Italian Championships at Cervinia. As the team finished the run, Clemente slumped to the ground, and went into a coma.

Doctors at the Molinette Hospital in Torino determined that Clemente had likely ruptured an artery during a violent curve on the course, and sustained a cerebral hemorrhage. He underwent surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, but died a few days later.
