Biography

Mike Curran was a goaltender at the University of North Dakota from 1965 until 1968. After college he played both professional and amateur hockey and six times played internationally for the United States. In addition to the 1972 Olympics he was on the 1969-71 and 1976 and 1977 World’s Championship teams. Curran’s first postcollege team had been the Green Bay Bobcats of the U.S. Hockey League with whom he played for three years. After the 1972 Olympics, however, he signed with the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the WHA, for whom he played for three years before returning to the amateur ranks.
