Of Austrian heritage, Piers Westenholz and his brother Charles both competed in the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. Their sister Antoinette was also a proficient skier. Despite being the younger of the two brothers, Charles enjoyed more success on the piste than Piers, who did occasionally get the better of his younger sibling. When Charles won the slalom and overall titles at the 1961 British Junior Championships, Piers prevented him from making it a clean sweep by winning the downhill title. The following year the siblings were on the England team that won the slalom team competition at the Commonwealth Winter Games.
Piers was a long-time friend of HRH Prince Charles, later King Charles III. Being a renowned antique dealer and interior designer, he revamped Charles´ Dumfries House in Scotland. Piers´ wife Jane was a close friend of Queen Camilla for many years while Piers and Jane´s daughter Violet was a very good friend of Prince Harry, and was reputed to have been responsible for getting him and Megan Markle together.
