Biography

Jason Dungjen was a pairs figure skater who started competed with his sister, Susan Dungjen. Together they won silver medals at the 1983 NHK Trophy and the 1984 World Juniors. He later competed with Paula Visingardi and Karen Courtland after his sister left skating.

In 1991 Dungjen joined up with Kyoka Ina, eventually skating with her at the 1994 and 1998 Winter Olympics. Dungjen and Ina also competed at four World Championships (1994-97), finishing fourth in 1997, as they would at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. Together they won the Karl Schäfer Cup in 1997 and were US National Champions in 1996 and 1997, after finishing second in 1994-95.

Dungjen joined Stars on Ice where he often skated with Yuka Sato, who had competed as a singles skater for Japan at the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics, and they would later marry. Dungjen became a figure skating coach, working out of the Detroit Skating Club, and was also certified as an ISU Technical Specialist.
