Biography

Hans Eder was born in Austria and competed for them at the 1952 Winter Olympics. He finished ninth in the Nordic combined event, 29th in the ski jumping individual large hill, and 31st in the 18 km cross-country skiing event. With the 4x10 km cross-country relay he was fifth. On the ski flying hill in Oberstdorf, Germany, he was the first man in the world to surpass 130 metres.

Eder emigrated to Canada in November 1952, settling in Ontario. He and his wife purchased and operated the Snow Valley Ski Resort in Barrie, Ontario for almost 30 years. They later retired to British Columbia and Florida, where he spent his time playing golf.
