Biography

Austrian cross-country skier Franz Gattermann participated in the 1976 Innsbruck and 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. His best results were both in 1984 when he was 29th over 50 km and 11th with the 4x10 km relay. In both 1980 and 1985 Gattermann won the Austrian national title over 30 km.

In 2006 Gattermann became national cross-country coach for one season and retired after the Austrian doping scandal at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics, in which he was not involved. He then became a regional politician.
