Biography

Dave Gorsuch competed for the US at the 1958 World Championships and the 1960 Winter Olympics. He skied for Western State College, winning the 1963 NCAA downhill title, and placing second that year in slalom and combined. Gorsuch later married US ski team member Renie Cox. Together they settled in Colorado, founding Gorsuch Ltd., a specialty ski and retail shop in Gunnison. It became a popular shop with several outlets and in 1966 they moved to Vail.

In Vail Dave and Renie Gorsuch became leaders of the ski community, managing Gorsuch Ltd., helping raise funds to build Vail Valley Medical Center, and helped establish the Vail Mountain School and Ski Club Vail. He served on numerous boards and civic commissions, including the Vail Planning Commission, Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, Vail Mountain School, and the Colorado Snowsports Museum. Gorsuch was inducted into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame and the Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame. He was also a distant relative of US Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
