Biography

Walter Graf’s most successful year in bobsledding came in 1968, when he teamed up with Hans Candrian, Willi Hofmann, and Jean Wicki to represent Switzerland on the international scene. After winning that year’s European Championships in the four-man, the quartet journeyed to the Winter Olympics, where their win in the second run allowed them to capture the bronze medal. Graf retired from active competition shortly after the Games, but remained active with the sport for many years. He was the head of the Swiss bobsledding delegation to the 1972 Winter Olympics and was also an administrative part of the team that attended the 1976 edition. By career he was involved in business management.
