Biography

Although Gene Grazia was from Massachusetts, he chose to play his college hockey at Michigan State after spending a season playing for Milano HC in Italy. A left winger, he actually played in the B World Championships for Italy in 1953. Grazia played on the U.S. National team at the 1959 World Championships in addition to his Olympic appearance. Grazia later played minor league professional hockey in Toledo for 10 years, playing two games in 1958 with the Toledo Mercurys of the International Hockey League (IHL). He then became a hockey, baseball, and golf coach in West Springfield, Massachusetts, where he taught physical education for 26 years. He moved to Florida and lived the last 20 years of his life there after retirement.
