Charlie Brown of Cincinnati had a fine year in 1964. He won the AAU title and the final Olympic trials before moving on to Tokyo. In the Olympics he won three decisions before losing a 4-1 decision to the Filipino, Anthony Villanueva, in the semi-finals. At the Pan American Games Brown won silver in 1959 and bronze in 1963 in the featherweight class.
