Biography

Chris Haines skied for Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska, and later for the University of Alaska, where he studied education. He also spent some time on the ski team at Fort Lewis College in Colorado. Haines’ sister, Betsy Haines, also skied cross-country for the US at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics. Their niece, Kikkan Randall, skied cross-country at the Winter Olympics in 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014, and was a World Champion in the team sprint in 2013.
