Biography

Vasile Huțanu was a high-scoring center who played for Romania at the 1976 Winter Olympics. He also skated for the national team at the B World Championships in 1978, 1979, 1981, and 1982. Huțanu had an 18-year career in the top Romanian league, playing for Dinamo 1968-1976 and for Steaua 1977-1986. During this period, he won eight national titles (1977-78, 1980, 1982-1986), and eight national cups (1977-78, 1980-82, 1984-86). Records are not complete for his career but he averaged almost one goal and two points per game for the years that are documented. He often played together with his brother Gheorghe, who also played in the national team.
