Biography

Eric Thomas ran the 400 metre hurdles for the United States at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He was world ranked in the top 10 in the event five times between 1996-2002 with a best ranking of #4 in 2000. Thomas was a silver medalist in the 400 hurdles at the 1999 and 2003 Pan American Games. He was US Champion in 2003.

Thomas went to Blinn College on a football and track scholarship before transferring to Abilene Christian University. After his running career he founded the Hurdling Over Obesity and Diabetes for Health program and The Eric Thomas Foundation, which provided support for underprivileged youth. He also ran athletic camps, including Champion Trainers, a company that provides individual fitness and athletic programs, in Houston. Thomas died quite young from complications after hip surgery.
