Biography

All-round Swedish sportsman Gunnar Landelius played ice hockey, football, and bandy for Hammarby IF in Stockholm. Landelius made his début for the club on the ice during the 1938–39 season. His ice hockey career lasted until 1950, playing in 181 matches and scoring 48 goals for the team, as well as winning the Swedish championship in 1942, 1943, and 1945. He represented the national team in 21 matches, including being named the best defenceman at the 1947 World Championships, where Sweden won silver. One year later he was part of the Swedish team that competed at the 1948 St. Moritz Olympics.

From 1940 to 1946 Landelius played football for the club where he made 25 appearances and scored 10 goals. As a bandy player his career lasted from 1938 until 1952, playing in the league’s highest division for several seasons. In 1941 he played for the Sweden B team in a match against Finland.
