Biography

Bobby Seay was a southpaw relief pitcher who helped the USA win a baseball gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He also won a silver medal at the 1999 Pan American Games and a bronze at the 1996 World Junior Championships.

Seay was drafted by the Chicago White Sox as the 12th overall pick in the 1st round of the 1996 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft, but he soon became a free agent because of the MLB amateur draft rule. In 2000 he was playing with the Double A Orlando Rays in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization.

Seay made his MLB début in August 2001 with the Devil Rays and played for them in 2001 and 2003-04, spending 2002 back in the minors. He then played for the Colorado Rockies (2005) and finished his MLB career with the Detroit Tigers from 2006-09. A rotator cuff injury basically ended his career after the 2009 season.
