Biography

Timothy Fok was a Hong Kong sports administrator who studied at Millfield College in Great Britain and the University of Southern California (USC) in the United States. He later became chairman of the Fok Ying Tung Group and governor of the Fok Ying Tung Foundation.

Fok was made President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China in 1998, and in 1999 became vice-president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). In his role as an NOC President, he was co-opted onto the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2001 and served through 2016, after which time he had to step down because of age limits, but he was made an IOC Honorary Member.

During his time on the IOC, Fok was a member of the following commissions: Coordination for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad Beijing 2008 (2002-08), Culture and Olympic Education (2007-15), International Relations (2009-15), Coordination for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad Rio 2016 (2010-16), Public Affairs and Social Development through Sport (2015-16), Culture and Olympic Heritage (2015-17), Coordination for the XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 (2016-17), and the Audit Committee (2015-17).
