Biography

Georgy, Count Ribeaupierre was co-opted onto the IOC in November 1900 and served until December 1913, but never attended an IOC Session during his tenure. He was a close friend of Pierre de Coubertin, and frequently wrote to him complaining about IOC decisions made at the Sessions. In May 1910 he wrote to de Coubertin stating he was considering resigning from the IOC and de Coubertin did nothing to discourage this. Count Ribeaupierre’s main sporting interests were horse racing and trotting and he owned two large studs at Kharkov and Simbirsk.
