Stanisław Rouppert studied medicine at Jagiellonian University, and then became an Army doctor, eventually rising to General. Rouppert was one of the founders of the Society of Sports Doctors. He was on the Executive Board of the Polish Olympic Committee from 1925-29 and 1931-39. Rouppert was co-opted onto the IOC in April 1931 and served until his death in 1945. After Germany invaded Poland in September 1939, Rouppert was able to get to France, and later England. He settled in Scotland, in a small town outside of Glasgow, where he practiced medicine until he died three months after the end of World War II.
