Biography

Egbert, Count von der Asseburg was a Prussian cavalry general who served as an advisor to Kaiser Wilhelm II. Count von der Asseburg led the German Olympic team at the 1906 and 1908 Olympics, after becoming an IOC Member in June 1905. He served as a member of the board of the Union Club in Berlin. Supporting a candidature by Berlin to host the 1912 Olympics, Count von der Asseburg made plans to build a main stadium, but his death in 1909 ended his involvement.
