Biography

Dick Fenton-Smith played Australian rules football during the 1950s and the early 1960s. During his early career Fenton-Smith played for Western Districts in the Queensland Australian Football League in 1954. He later transferred to Melbourne where he played in 50 matches from 1957 to 1959, scoring 21 goals. He played in two Grand Final wins, both against Essendon, in 1957 and 1959. By 1960 he had moved to Adelaide where he joined the South Australian National Football League with the club Sturt. Fenton-Smith was part of the Victorian Amateur Football Association team that won a one-off match when Aussie rules was played as a demonstration sport at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
