Biography

Mike Stevenson played forward on the USA roller hockey team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He also won a bronze medal in roller hockey at the 1991 Pan American Games. Stevenson played in Barcelona when he was only 19-years-old.

Stevenson grew up skating as his father owned and managed a roller skating rink in Salem, Oregon. Stevenson played at nine World Championships. He competed at the National Championships almost every year from 1986-2002. He also played one season in Florida for the Tampa Bay Rolling Thunder in the Major League Roller Hockey League and played on Team Salsa in the Pro Beach Hockey League at Huntington Beach, California for three years.

Stevenson married and settled near Bangor, Maine. He and his wife had six children, highlighted by the birth of quintuplets – four girls and a boy – in 2006. Stevenson was working full-time but somehow found time to come out of retirement and compete at the 2010 Nationals in roller hockey.
