Biography

Conor Casey was a soccer (football) forward who helped the USA to a fourth-place finish at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He played in college at the University of Portland, leading the NCAA in scoring in 2000 with 23 goals and 7 assists.

Casey left college after one year to play in Europe for Borussia Dortmund. He was with them from 2000-2004, although he had short-term loan stints with Hannover 96 and Karlsruher SC. He then played with Mainz 05 from 2004-06. In 2007 Casey returned to North American and played Major League Soccer (MLS) for the remainder of his career.

Casey played for Toronto FC in 2007 and then the Colorado Rapids from 2007-12. He was with the Philadelphia Union in 2013-15 and ended his career with a final season with the Columbus Crew. Casey was MLS Cup MVP in 2010, the year he helped lead the Rapids to the MLS Eastern Conference Championships. Internationally Casey earned 19 full caps and had 9 caps with USA U-23 team, which included the Olympics, and he helped them win the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

After his playing career ended Casey began working as a manager. He was initially an assistant with the Columbus Crew but in 2022 became head manager of the Charleston Battery.
