Andrey Lomakin

Andrey Lomakin began his hockey career with Khimik Voskresensk in 1981 and in 1985 joined Dynamo Moskva, playing there until 1991. With Dynamo Moskva Lomakin won Soviet titles in 1990 and 1991. In 1991 Lomakin was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers, playing there until 1993 when he joined the Florida Panthers. In 1995 he played one season in Switzerland with HC Fribourg-Gottéron until he finished his career in Germany, playing two seasons with Eisbären Berlin and one season with the Frankfurt Lions. Internationally, besides his Olympic gold, Lomakin was on the 1990 World Champions and 1991 European Champions. He also won silvers at the 1990 European Championships and 1987 Canada Cup and bronze at the 1991 World Championships. After retiring from sports, Lomakin worked as a children’s coach in Detroit, Michigan until his untimely death from cancer in December 2006.
