Biography

Jean Démaret studied construction and architecture in Paris. He was best known for the design and construction of the Messageries Hachette in Paris in 1932. In addition, he designed numerous corporate and residential buildings. With Pierre Vágó, he later founded the International Association of Architects. He also was named professor for technical design at the École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures and the École des Beaux Arts in Paris.

The joint project of the three architects Guy Ardilouze, Jean Démaret and Othello Zavaroni was a local sports center for the training of future top athletes. It was built on a former estate near the castle of Boivre. The planning began in 1942. Although it is not confirmed that the construction was carried out according to the plans of these three architects, that seems very likely. Today, it operates under the name Center de Ressources, d’Expertise et de Performance Sportives (CREPS).
