Biography

Alexander Langeweg was a military musician like his father of the same name, and he regularly composed and executed marches. His entry for the 1936 Olympics, “Marcia Campione”, therefore fits well into his oeuvre. He joined the Royal Military Band in Den Haag in 1923. In 1936, he composed the Soesterberg march, which was to become the official march of the Dutch air force. From 1939-48, he was the kapelmeester (leader) of Koninklijke Militaire Kapel “Johan Willem Friso”, a Dutch military marching band.
