Having won the 100 yards title at the 1921 South London Harriers Championship, Frank Norris competed in his first AAAs. Competing in the 220 yards, he was beaten in his heat by the eventual runner-up Harold Abrahams. Norris won the 220 yards at the 1924 Southern Championships at Woolwich, which acted as an Olympic trial, and he gained selection onto the 4 x 100 metres relay squad for the Paris Olympics as a reserve. At the 1925 Surrey Championships, Norris won the 220 and was runner-up in the 100, and in both 1925 and 1926 was in the Surrey 4 x 110 yards relay squad that finished second in the Inter-counties Championship.
