Román Castelltort was entered in the 50 km walk at the 1936 Berlin Olympics but did not start due to the ongoing Spanish Civil War. He was a four-time Spanish champion in the event, winning in 1931, 1933-34, and 1936, also winning the Catalonian title in the same years. Castelltort was 1935 Catalonian champion over 30 km and set a Catalonian record in the two-hour track walk in 1931 with 20,687 metres.
