Biography

Ignacio Sánchez was entered in the high hurdles, long jump, and triple jump at the 1936 Olympics, but did not compete in any of them, as Spain withdrew from Berlin due to the ongoing Spanish Civil War. Sánchez was much better known as a footballer. He played for Unión Irún from 1932-36, and then was with Real Sociedad in 1939-41, playing in 53 second division matches and scoring 16 goals.
