Biography

Elena Reiche was a German modern pentathlete who finished 21st at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the individual competition, when the women’s event was held for the first time. She had a disaster in the riding event, as often happens in this sport at the Olympics, after her horse refused three fences.

Reiche won team gold at the 1998 World Championships, and in 2001, won her only German national title. Due to an Achilles heel rupture, she could not qualify for the 2004 Athens Olympics. In 2005, she won the gold medal at the Relay Worlds. Reiche later studied sports science and became a sports and leisure manager at Playitas Grand Resort on Fuerteventura. Later, she became a schoolteacher at Berlin.
