German lightweight rower Roland Händle, brother of Christian and brother-in-law of his wife Birgit Peter, finished 12th with the coxless fours at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In 1997, he won his only international medal, a bronze at the World Championships.
At German nationals, Händle won eight titles: with the lightweight coxless pairs in 1994 and 1997, with the lightweight coxless fours in 1997-2000, and with the lightweight eights in 1993 and 1997. By profession, he became a high school teacher.
