German lightweight rower Valerie Viehoff partnered Claudia Blasberg in the lightweight double sculls at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and won the silver medal. Both rowers were awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. In 1998 Viehoff was a crew member of the lightweight quadruple sculls that won the World Championships.
Domestically, Viehoff won the national title in the lightweight single sculls in 1997 and 2002, and with Blasberg in the lightweight double sculls in 2000. By profession, Viehoff graduated in geography and worked as a research assistant at the Geographical Institute of the University of Bonn.
