Biography

Hilary Gehman rowed quad sculls for the United States at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. She rowed in college at Colby College, graduating with a degree in sociology and classical civilization. She was a six-time member of the US National Team.

Even while competing Gehman was coaching rowing. She was head coach at Lewis & Clark College from 1996-98 and then coached at Georgetown University (2000-03) and Cornell University (2004-14). In 2016 she became the events manager and director of the Mercer Rowing Programs for the Princeton National Rowing Association.

Internationally Gehman coached the US Rowing women’s freshman camp in 2008, 2009, and 2011. She was coach of the U-23 women’s quad at the 2010 and 2018 World Championships, the men’s four at the 2015 Pan American Games, and she was the 2020 USA Olympic Team women’s quad sculls rowing coach.
