Biography

Four-time Olympian German triathlete Anja Dittmer, sister of flatwater canoeist Andreas Dittmer, competed at the Olympics from 2000 at Sydney to 2012 at London, placing, 18th, 11th, 33rd and 12th, respectively. In 1999, she won the European Championships in short-course, only one year after turning professional. In 2004, she won the overall World Cup and in 2006 she came third.

Dittmer was named Triathlete of the Year from 1996-98 in Germany. In 2003, she was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. After her active career she turned to coaching and became youth coach at the Regional Olympic Centre in Potsdam.
