Biography

Vince Spadea was a professional tennis player who played singles at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics. He won one ATP singles title, at Scottsdale, Arizona in 2004, and three ATP doubles titles, but did win 11 tournaments on the Challenger Circuit.

Spadea played professionally from 1992-2010. His best finish in singles at a Grand Slam was making the quarter-finals of the 1999 Australian Open. At Masters 1000 events he made the semi-finals of Indian Wells and Monte Carlo in 2003 and Miami in 2004.

Spadea broke into the world top 20 in September 1999, but then suffered a 21-match losing streak, lasting through June of 2000. He fought back in the rankings by persevering on the Challenger Circuit. Spadea reached his highest singles ranking of #18 in February 2005. He was one of the very few players to have ever bageled Roger Federer in a set, 6-0, which he did in 1999 at Monte Carlo.
