Biography

Heather Bown played volleyball for the USA at the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Olympic Games, winning a silver medal in 2008. She was a middle-blocker on the US National Team from 2000-12. She played in college at UC Santa Barbara initially, but transferred to the University of Hawai’i in 1998, where she was named a first-team All-American and WAC Player of the Year in 1999.

Internationally, Bown won Grand Prix gold medals in 2001 and 2000-12, and won the NORCECA Championship in 2001, 2003, and 2011. She earned a silver medal at the 2002 World Championships and a silver medal at the 2011 World Cup.

Bown played professionally after college, mostly in Italy, where she played with various teams from 2000-10, including Teodora Ravenna, Volley Bergamo, Volley Modena, Santeramo Sport, Airone Tortolì, and Vini Monteschiavo Jesi. In 2010/11 she was with Eczacıbaşı VitrA in Turkey, then she joined Azerrail Baku in Azerbaijan for the 2011/12 season, before finishing her career in 2012/13 with Dynamo Kazan in Russia.
