Biography

Shane Hamman was a super-heavyweight weightlifter who lifted at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, placing seventh at Athina in 2004. Hamman started out as a powerlifter, competing at the World Championships in 1994 and 1995, finishing third and second, respectively. He was US Champion in powerlifting in 1993 and 1995-96.

Hamman won a super-heavyweight gold medal in weightlifting at the 1999 Pan American Games. He was USA Champion all nine times he competed in the event, from 1997-2005. Hamman also set multiple American records in super-heavyweight weightlifting, in both lifts and the total. He later became an announcer on weightlifting meets for NBC television.
