Dick Meredith attended the University of Minnesota where he played forward on their hockey team all four years and made the 1956 Olympic team as a junior. He graduated in 1957 but continued to play amateur hockey with the Minneapolis Bungalows, representing the United States at the 1958 and 1959 World Championships and then at the 1960 Olympics. He also played in minor league professional hockey from 1960-63 with the Minneapolis Millers, Minneapolis Rebels, and the St. Paul Steers. Meredith remained in hockey after his playing career ended, working in administration for many years with the Minnesota North Stars.
