Biography

Einar Mässeli was almost 30 years old, when he won a regional championship, his first result of note. In the following years he won the national trials and was selected for the 1928 Winter Olympics. But he could not cope with the local conditions and placed a disappointing 13th. In 1933 he won the over 35 years section of the Finnish Championships in the 18 km race with a time 16 seconds faster than the overall winner. He competed on club level until he was 50 years old.
