Biography

Yury Pantyukhov started his career in 1949 with Krylya Sovetov Moskva, joining VVS Moskva in 1951, moving to CSKA Moskva in 1953, where he played until 1961, and ended his playing career in 1961-62 with SKA Leningrad. Pantyukhov won eight Soviet Championships (1952-53, 1955-56, 1958-61). Internationally, besides his Olympic gold medal, Pantyukhov won World Championships in 1954 and 1956, was a runner-up in 1957-59, and also won European Championships in 1954, 1956, and 1958-59. After his playing career, Pantyukhov worked as a head coach of SKA Moskva Oblast, worked with the Soviet sport lottery and was an official with the sport club Zenit Moskva.
