Gerhard Rainer was an Austrian Olympic bobsledder who participated in the 1992 Albertville Winter Games. Partnering Thomas Bachler in the two men bob, they placed eighth. With the four men bob Rainer finished tenth. At the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics, Rainer was again nominated for the Austrian Olympic team. Shortly before the start of the competition, however, he tested positive for methandienone in a doping test and was banned for two years. He later turned to coaching.
