Biography

Boris Režek attended school in Ljubljana and later in Novo Mesto. In his student years he became interested in mountaineering and winter sports, and in the Slovenian part of the Alps he was involved in several first ascents. In 1928, he started working as a proof reader and editor. During World War II, he was interned in Italy between 1942-45. After the war, he took up a job as proof reader once more, this time for the Triglav publishing house. He also worked as director and screenwriter for the film company of the same name. He published his first book about mountaineering in 1933 and continued to write books on this topic until the 1960s. He was also responsible for a number of short films. His books and films included also in-depth descriptions of fauna and flora and the life of men in contact with nature. Some of his works have been published in other languages.
