Biography

Skater Willi Sandner participated in all four speed skating events at the 1936 Garmisch Winter Olympics. His best result was 12th place in the 10km. By profession, Sandner was a locksmith and became jobless in the 1920s. He then started speed skating. In the 1930s he won six German Championships, and set twelve German records. He also participated in the World Championships in 1935-36 and 1938.

Personal Bests: 500 – 45.8 (1936); 1500 – 2:25.3 (1936); 5000 – 8:52.8 (1935); 10000 – 18:02.0 (1936).
